Hair Implants

Bald may be beautiful on some people, like real life Samuel Jackson and fictional Lex Luthor, but it’s not for everyone.  Some people might not have the right look or attitude for it and some might just like having hair on their crown.  Reasons vary from genetics to external things like stress and illness.  There are various methods of countering baldness, from medicines to hair implants so people who don’t want to be bald might not have to be.

Causes of Baldness

Baldness can occur for a number of reasons.  Almost all of those reasons, unfortunately, are ones that we cannot directly affect, control or handle as it’s largely a hereditary problem, one that you get from your genes. If it isn’t due to your genetics, it’s likely due to external causes such as stress, illness and the way you eat.

Medications in particular can wreak havoc with a glorious mane. High blood pressure medicine as well as gout or depression medicine.  Illnesses such as a thyroid related one can also cause that mane to suffer. Women can suffer from this malady through pregnancy due to the massive hormonal changes that occur during the event, though luckily it’s temporary.

Treatment Options

You don’t need to leap straight to hair implants – there are some FDA approved drugs that can help hair growth.  Rogaine and Propecia are the main weapons in the battle. Rogaine is a topical solution that is best at maintain hair status rather than improving it, while Propecia is a pill for male pattern baldness.

For more severe cases, hair implants are an option. Severe cases include the aforementioned male pattern baldness, women who are suffering from thinning hair for one reason or another and even burn victims who lost some or all of their hair due to burns on their scalp.  There are also different kinds of hair implants, like micro and slit grafting.

Not everyone can take advantage of this opportunity and technology however.  People with diffuse hair loss won’t be recommended for hair implants. People whose reason for hair loss will also find themselves unable to take advantage of it.

Side effects are largely ignorable, such as some swelling and bruising.  Like any surgery, hair implants carry risks. Scarring, infection and bleeding are only a few of the potential untoward effects of hair implants, so be sure that the risk is worth the reward to you before investing time and money.

Covering Up

It can be difficult to deal with, but not impossible.  Baldness affects people differently.  Some people are perfectly fine finding out that they’re going bald, while others find that their egos have taken a severe hit, especially if the person in question is a woman.

Just about anyone, under the right conditions, can find themselves without hair. Luckily, just about anyone can take treatment and hair implants to make sure that it doesn’t get in the way of their lives. If you’ve got the time and the money to resolve your hair issue, rest assured that you will be able to.
