Hair Replacement Systems

Being bald is definitely nothing to be ashamed off, but not everyone is okay with it. Maybe they just love long locks, or perhaps their partner loves it – regardless, there are people out there looking for ways to avoid being bald. Various hair replacement systems are there for people who want to fight baldness with some money and some effort. In truth, that’s a fancy word for the good old wig, a simple, relatively cheap and easy to use way to fight your baldness without risk of a scam or surgical complications.

What Made Hair Replacement Systems Necessary?

Well, baldness comes along for a variety of reasons, the range of which has varied throughout the ages. Romans way back in the day thought it was due to a lack of acidity. This has been disproven since, luckily for bald and balding people around the world as the solution was animal urine. Another old theory was it was a matter of blood flow, which was apparently fixed with some gold electro shock therapy. This theory has also been disproven since.

Genetics is a more likely culprit, which means that baldness is something that can probably run in a family. Of course, they’ve only caught the trend by observation and not theory, as they aren’t sure why it’s genetic or how it causes baldness exactly. Barring that, baldness is largely caused by illnesses such as the always tragic cancer and the treatments that entails, as well as injuries and medications.

One factor usually isn’t enough – it’s a combination of things, such as genetics and stress, that prompts the head to shed its might crown.

Professional Headgear

Now, hair replacement systems or toupees are available for people who want a good head of hair, but don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on potentially damaging surgery or questionable medicine. Now, they’ve gotten a bad rap and were the butt of jokes for a good decade, but now – not so much. Whether it’s a greater sensitivity towards the issue or a greater increase in wig quality is unknown, but the point is a wig can easily bring your head’s style back up to speed.

Now, it may seem strange to call them hair replacement systems without knowing why they’re systems to begin with. What makes it as system is the two kinds of hair replacement systems there are – stock and of course, custom. The names tell people what they are for the most part, but there are some things you might not know from their names.

Stock Hair Replacement Systems

As the name suggests, these are the mass produced models, or hairpieces that are sold as is or off the shelf. It’s inexpensive, perfect for costumes and daily use – although, they could still be better. A lot of people actually have unique head sizes and shapes, which can require a more personal design and creation.

Custom Hair Replacement System

Obviously, customized hair replacement systems fit you better as they are made and designed according to your specific shape and specifications. They can also be made to fit your specific baldness pattern better, as well as the specific shade of hair that you have. This customization also makes the hairpiece lighter than other models, which is fairly important if you consider that it’s probably going to be on most of the day. This also allows the maker to put a greater emphasis on designing the front hairline.

How Do You Put It On?

Well, this may actually seem intuitive, but when you put in on your head, it becomes startling apparent that it’ll need more than gravity and a snug fit to keep it on. Generally, there are three ways to attach a hair replacement system to your head – clips, glue or tape, with the last two getting the most use as they are efficient and non-invasive. Given strong enough adhesive or tape, hair replacement systems can stay on up to a month without constant care and handling. Attachment is the biggest problem after actually selecting the item. If you’re still confused, don’t hesitate to ask the clerk or take a look at a guide to get it working.

Heading It Up

Hair loss comes to everyone, for a wide variety of reasons from accidents to just plain old genetics and hair replacement systems can make sure that no matter how it came about, there’s a relatively inexpensive way to fight it off. If you’re not too comfortable with a hairpiece or if you want something that’ll fall off on a really, really bad day, there are other options, such as the aforementioned surgeries and topical applications.

Whatever method you end up choosing to fight your baldness, make sure that it’s one that you can readily afford and one that you really don’t mind using. Hair’s one of the first thing people notice and it won’t do good to have hair that you’re ashamed off.
